The EDG grant for AI workflow automation in Singapore.

The Enterprise Development Grant (EDG) is one of the most useful ways for a Singapore SME to fund an AI workflow automation project. Administered by Enterprise Singapore, the EDG helps Singapore companies grow and transform, covering up to 50% of qualifying costs for projects that build new capability — and AI automation, when it replaces manual back-office work, sits squarely inside the grant's Innovation & Productivity pillar. This page explains EDG eligibility, what the grant covers, how it differs from the PSG, the documents you need, how to apply through the Business Grants Portal, and how the grant is structured around three pillars for different growth needs.

EDG grant at a glance

  • Who runs it: Enterprise Singapore (the same agency behind the PSG and MRA grants).
  • Support level: up to 50% of qualifying costs for SMEs (some strategic projects qualify for higher support).
  • Cap: no fixed per-project cap — the EDG scales with the size of your AI automation project, unlike the PSG's S$30,000 annual limit.
  • Three pillars: Core Capabilities builds strong business foundations and strengthens core functions before scaling; Innovation & Productivity covers AI workflow automation, resource optimisation, structural efficiency, and proprietary solutions; Market Access helps established local firms venture overseas. AI workflow automation projects apply under Innovation & Productivity.
  • Where to apply: the Business Grants Portal (BGP) on GoBusiness, using CorpPass.

EDG vs PSG — which grant should you use?

Both the EDG and the Productivity Solutions Grant (PSG) are Enterprise Singapore grants, and both can fund Automiq. The difference is the shape of the project:

  • PSG grant — for pre-approved, off-the-shelf solutions. Fastest to approve (4–8 weeks), capped at S$30,000 per company per year. Best for a single standard workflow such as a WhatsApp enquiry flow or an appointment-booking automation.
  • EDG grant — for larger, customised capability projects. Requires a project proposal and takes 8–12 weeks to assess, but has no fixed cap. Best for a multi-workflow Automiq deployment, a dispatch or document-processing rollout across several sites, or any project that needs custom integration with your ERP, Xero, or clinic/HIS systems.

A rough rule: if you are buying one standard workflow, start with the PSG. If you are transforming a whole operations process — multiple workflows, custom integrations, change management — the EDG is the better fit.

What the EDG grant covers

For an Automiq AI workflow automation project, EDG qualifying costs typically fall into three categories — the grant reimburses specific project-related costs, not general day-to-day operational expenses:

  • Third-party consultancy — solution design, process mapping, process redesign, and implementation services delivered by Automiq's solutions team.
  • Software — Automiq platform licences and any integration tooling required for the project's duration, in line with how the Innovation & Productivity pillar supports projects involving automation and product development.
  • Internal manpower — a defined portion of your team's time spent on the project, within Enterprise Singapore's guidelines, reflecting how Innovation & Productivity projects aim to transform businesses through improved processes and new business models.

EDG eligibility checklist

Your company is eligible for the EDG grant if all of the following apply:

  • A business entity registered and operating in Singapore (a valid UEN is required).
  • At least 30% local shareholding in the business entity.
  • In a financially viable position to start and complete the project — financial readiness is often assessed using indicators such as the current ratio.
  • The project delivers a clear, measurable productivity or capability outcome — not business-as-usual spending.
  • Startups are generally not eligible, except in rare cases involving groundbreaking products.

Documents you'll need to apply

  • Latest ACRA Bizfile (within the last 6 months).
  • Your UEN and CorpPass admin access to businessgrants.gov.sg.
  • Audited financial statements or management accounts.
  • Other supporting documents, such as vendor quotations and consultant credentials.
  • A project proposal covering objectives, project scope, timeline, budget, and measurable project outcomes — Automiq provides a template tuned to the Innovation & Productivity pillar.
  • An application form and a grant-ready quote for consultancy services — Automiq can help prepare both, and Enterprise Singapore assesses the submission partly on the competency of the service provider.

Typical project cost after the EDG grant

Customised Automiq projects funded through the EDG typically range from S$60,000 to S$200,000 (excl. GST) depending on the number of workflows and integrations. With EDG support at 50%, the customer-paid portion is roughly half. Smaller single-workflow pilots are usually better funded through the PSG instead.

How to apply for the EDG — three steps

  1. Scoping call with Automiq (free, ~30 min). We confirm the EDG fits your project, define the qualifying costs, and issue a grant-ready quote plus a proposal template.
  2. Submit through the Business Grants Portal. Log in with CorpPass at businessgrants.gov.sg and submit your EDG application. A complete application typically takes 8–12 weeks to process, and you can track it in the "My Grants" section of the portal.
  3. Kick off after approval. Your Automiq deployment begins once the grant is approved. Claims are reimbursement-based, so they're submitted only after all project deliverables are achieved, and must be filed within six months of the end of the project's qualifying period.

EDG grant FAQ

What is the Enterprise Development Grant (EDG) by Enterprise Singapore?

The Enterprise Development Grant (EDG) is a Singapore government grant administered by Enterprise Singapore. It funds up to 50% of qualifying costs for projects that help local SMEs upgrade, innovate, or expand. Its Core Capabilities pillar strengthens business foundations through areas such as business strategy, financial management, human capital development, service excellence, and strategic brand and marketing development — while software and AI workflow automation projects fall under the Innovation & Productivity pillar.

How much does the EDG cover for an AI automation project?

EDG supports up to 50% of qualifying project costs for eligible SMEs. Qualifying costs typically include third-party consultancy, software licences, and a portion of internal manpower. Unlike the PSG, the EDG has no fixed per-project cap, so it suits larger or customised AI workflow automation deployments. The grant can also help defray market-access costs — such as overseas market entry and standards adoption — for firms expanding under the Market Access pillar.

What is the difference between EDG and PSG?

PSG (Productivity Solutions Grant) funds pre-approved, off-the-shelf solutions and is capped at S$30,000 per company per year. EDG (Enterprise Development Grant) funds larger, customised capability-building projects with no fixed cap, but requires a project proposal and Enterprise Singapore approval. Use PSG for a single standard workflow; use EDG for a multi-workflow or custom Automiq deployment.

Is my company eligible for the EDG?

You are eligible for the EDG if you are a business entity registered and operating in Singapore, have at least 30% local shareholding, and are in a financially viable position to start and complete the project. The grant supports projects that help you upgrade your business, innovate, or venture overseas. Applications are submitted through the Business Grants Portal using CorpPass.

How long does an EDG application take?

EDG applications submitted through the Business Grants Portal typically take 8 to 12 weeks for Enterprise Singapore to assess. Automiq provides a project proposal template and a grant-ready quote to speed up your submission.
